My Story, My Why

When I began to think about my story, I almost thought it happened by chance.
By chance I happened to move to Miami - by chance I happened to find an amazing job to inspire me to another amazing job.
But it really wasn’t by chance- I created these opportunities in my life and I worked really hard.
Welcome to my new passion project! Passion project, or career change- whichever you’d like to call it! I am overjoyed to share my experience of what has lead me to this present moment.
Having held many job titles in my life I feel as though I’ve already lived 100 lives- I’ve been a student, a Nanny, a Diabetes Care Manager, a Personal Assistant, a Televised Runway Model, a world traveling DJ, an occasional background Actress, and countless other odd jobs and gigs.
I was born and raised in the countryside of Michigan, blossomed in New York City, and now I soul-fully reside in Miami, with my toes in the sand :) When I say I’ve lived 100 lives already- it is because I truly feel as though I have.
My path to health & wellness has not been linear- as all things in life are not. I ran around New York City a million miles a minute, from gig to gig- day in & day out- often running on little to no sleep and working way too much feeling as though I needed to continuously ‘prove myself’. Then in 2015 I was thrown the curveball of a lifetime when my younger brother died suddenly at just 25 years old. The pain of this loss is still immeasurable to anything I have ever experienced, and lives within me forever.
I suppose this is where my journey to healing, health & wellness began- though inconsistently. I subscribed to Class Pass and tried every workout they had- from Underground Boxing to Aerial Silks to Underwater Cycling- then I found Yoga. After several yoga classes, I finally found an amazing teacher to practice Hatha Yoga under. It was during this time I also began getting my feet wet in Meditation- attending workshops, large scale events, centers, and even attended a 3 day silent retreat.
However without even realizing, I continued on living this fast paced destructive lifestyle- anything not to have to sit still and truly tune in with myself and feel my feelings. I had these wonderful tools all around me, however the inconsistent patterns had me finding myself just going through the motions, and not truly letting myself feel and embody the healing I was experiencing. I was depressed, stressed out, anxious, riding an unkept ADHD rollercoaster, dealing with panic attacks and anxiety that caused me to wake up several times throughout the night, waking up exhausted even when I did get a “full” nights rest-or lead me to a depression where I wouldn’t want to get out of bed for days.
I continued this up and down bi-polar lifestyle until 2019 when I headed to Burning Man for the 2nd time. I spent many hours alone in the desert, and had some by-chance encounters with strangers, which lead me to the realization that I could not continue living this way and had to face my emotions head-on. I needed to take back control of my health and happiness. When I returned from the burn, I finally sought therapy and I began to change my inconsistent behaviors and begin to implement more best practices, more consistently and following my intuition. I realized the only way to move forward was to become selfish and invest in myself.
2020 happened- and I don’t have to remind you what that was- and like many people, I was re-evaluating my life and what was truly important, meaningful and healthy for me. I decided I needed to move to my next favorite city, Miami Beach. My plan was by shifting location I would shift my mindset- and it worked.
I dove deeper into my yoga practice- I earned my 200 Hr Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Certificate, as well as a Trauma Informed teaching Certificate.
From there on out I changed who I was and changed the direction of my life with a regular meditation and yoga practice. I traded my long sleepless nights on the town for early sunrises on the beach. I learned how to sleep amazingly by the power of Yoga Nidra. I practiced Ayurveda. I cared more about the food and products I was putting into or on my body and sought healthier options. I was listening to my body, and learning to truly nourish myself with what I needed. I began to say yes to myself, and unapologetically no to others. This lead to many more beautiful encounters. It turns out, when you put in the work, amazing things happen to you.
I began taking care of children- and found a joy filled purpose and lightheartedness to making an impact on young human lives. It was this that lead me to a position of Diabetes Care Management- caring for a toddler with Type 1 Diabetes. This is when I was truly able to see the impacts of the food we eat on the human body, as well as truly understand Nutrition labels and what we are really consuming in the Standard American Diet. I was completely shocked and scared for what I’d consumed as a child and my life up until then. I needed to know more- so I enrolled at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.
Who I’ve become: Today I am living my most aligned part of my life yet- and I am so grateful! I am a proud Graduate of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and Certified Health Coach.
